About Me

Hi, I'm Joy Cordie, and I am devoted to making your birth experience peaceful and joyful.

As a Christian who loves Jesus, my heart is to truly serve you during one of life's most sacred moments. The word "doula" comes from the Greek, meaning "a woman who serves"—and I promise that's exactly what I'll be for you.

I am a certified doula through awomanwhoserves.com, and I'm deeply in love with natural birthing. There's something so raw and beautiful about witnessing new life come into the world. Home births hold a special place in my heart because I've seen how being in her own space allows a mother to relax completely, find her peace, and often experience a smoother, faster labor.

Why I Do This

I've heard too many horror stories of hospital births—mothers feeling rushed, pressured, and unheard. I know there's something better, and my mission is to bridge that gap for women. Forced C-sections and unnecessary inductions have become far too common, but they don't have to be your story. You deserve to feel empowered, informed, and supported in your birth choices.

Research shows that having a birth doula by your side makes a profound difference:

  • Reduced C-section rates by up to 39% - Continuous support helps labor progress naturally

  • Shorter labor - By an average of 41 minutes

  • Less need for pain medication - Comfort measures and emotional support reduce the desire for epidurals

  • Decreased use of Pitocin - Natural labor support often eliminates the need for induction drugs

  • Higher satisfaction with birth experience - Mothers feel more confident and positive about their births

  • Better bonding and breastfeeding outcomes - A peaceful birth sets the stage for postpartum success

As your doula, I provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support. I help you understand your options, advocate for your wishes, use comfort techniques like positioning and breathing, and ensure your voice is heard. You're not just another patient—you're a powerful woman bringing life into the world, and you deserve to be treated that way.

This isn't just a career—it's a passion, a calling, and a privilege to walk alongside mothers during this incredible time. I'd be honored to serve you and your family as you prepare to welcome your little one.

The female body is an incredible testament to God's design and intelligence—it doesn't need to be taught how to give birth; it already knows, carrying within it the same innate wisdom that the Creator placed there. Trusting in Jesus and in the body He fearfully and wonderfully made allows us to walk through birth with both faith and confidence, knowing we are held by Him through every moment.

What I Believe

I believe that Jesus Christ is the foundation of everything—my life, my work, and my calling to serve families during one of life's most sacred transitions. I believe He is not just a distant figure in history, but a present, living Savior who walks with us through every moment of joy, uncertainty, fear, and triumph. I believe that He is the Great Physician, the Comforter, and the Prince of Peace, and that His presence transforms the birthing space into holy ground.

I believe that every life is intentionally designed by God, fearfully and wonderfully made in His image, and that birth is not merely a biological process but a divine orchestration of His creative power. I believe that Jesus meets us in our weakness, that His strength is made perfect when we feel most vulnerable, and that He extends grace upon grace to mothers, fathers, and babies alike.

I believe in the power of prayer—that it changes atmospheres, calms anxious hearts, and invites God's peace into the room. I believe that faith doesn't eliminate the hard moments, but it anchors us through them, reminding us that we are never alone. I believe Jesus walks with us through every contraction, every doubt, every tear, and every moment of overwhelming love.

I believe that as a doula, I am called not only to support the physical and emotional needs of families, but to reflect Christ's love—to listen deeply, to serve humbly, and to honor the sacred work happening in each birth. I believe that my role is to point families back to the One who holds them, sustains them, and has written their story with purpose and hope.
